HSCL Event: Flower Arranging Workshop
In collaboration with the HSCL (Home School Community Liaison) Coordinator of Coláiste Mhuire Co-Ed, Thurles, I was delighted to facilitate a creative and engaging evening workshop for parents.
The session focused on creating a posy-style floral arrangement, with all flowers, materials, and sundries provided. Parents had the opportunity to learn simple but effective arranging techniques, while also enjoying a relaxed, hands-on activity in a welcoming school setting. The evening format worked particularly well, as it allowed parents to take part after work and family commitments.
Workshops like this not only encourage creativity but also provide a wonderful way to connect with others in the school community. Many participants commented on how enjoyable it was to try something new and take home a beautiful arrangement that they had made themselves.
Beyond creativity, these workshops can also support literacy and numeracy skills in an informal and engaging way — from following step-by-step instructions to measuring stems and working with shapes, patterns, and balance. This makes them particularly suitable for small group settings where learning is embedded through a practical and enjoyable activity.
If you are interested in organising a similar event in your school or community, a range of workshops are available and can be tailored to suit group size, ability, and theme.
